County Connection Will Issue Sr. Clipper Cards

Concord, Calif. – In an effort to make senior Clipper transit cards more accessible to senior citizens, County Connection will issue the cards beginning Monday, February 13, 2012. Seniors 65+ years old are encouraged to download the application from the Clipper website, clippercard.com, and bring the completed form with a photo ID and proof of age to the administrative office at 2477 Arnold Industrial Way in Concord. Acceptable proof of age includes a driver’s license, State ID card, alien registration/permanent resident card, matricula consular/consular ID card, SF City ID card, or a birth certificate. The offices are open Monday–Friday from 8:00 AM to noon, and 1:00 – 5:00 PM.

The senior Clipper cards have no stored cash value, but cash values may be added to the cards at many locations including BART stations.

Those seeking the youth discounted (ages 5 to 18 yrs old) Clipper card may turn in completed applications along with acceptable proof of age at County Connection, and the cards will be mailed to the applicant by Clipper.

Clipper is not accepted for fare payment on County Connection buses at this time, but due to the lack of locations in Contra Costa County for seniors to get the card, has agreed to assist in issuing the cards. For more information, please call (925) 676-7500.

    • Latest is that County Connection won’t be brought into the Clipper program until the end of phase III. Next up are the remaining ferry operators and the solano county bus operators. Best guess is 1 1/2 years????

    • I think we’re still a year or so out. I believe MTC is still reviewing the mechanical specifications for the next round of equipment that needs to be built for the East Bay operators. We’re anxiously awaiting.

    • County Connection, along with Tri Delta, Wheels, and WestCat are the next operators to come on board. MTC is working with us now and they are reporting the end of 2015 for implementation. We can’t wait.

  • I recently saw a non-working clipper box installed in a County Connection bus. My life will be easier when I can carry one (Clipper) card instead of two (Clipper and County Conx) cards. Are we still looking at the end of 2015?

    • I didn’t know we had test equipment installed anywhere…thanks for the heads up. Yes, still looking at end of 2015. Couldn’t be soon enough!
