Concord, Calif. – The popular Route 4 “FREE RIDE” trolleys will operate later in the evening during the holiday shopping season. The Broadway Plaza in downtown Walnut Creek will once again sponsor extended evening service on the trolleys which are operated by the County Connection. Route 4 travels between Walnut Creek BART, downtown Walnut Creek, and the Broadway Plaza seven days a week.
Beginning Friday, November 27 through December 12th, the last trolley will leave Broadway Plaza at 10:00 PM on Monday – Saturday. From December 13 – 23 the last trolley will leave Broadway Plaza at 11:00 PM Monday through Saturday. There will be no extended service on December 24th and no service provided on December 25th at all. To help with the busy after season shopping, bus service will be extended to 10:00 PM from December 26 through December 31. Sunday service will remain unchanged throughout the holiday season.
“This shuttle between BART, Broadway Plaza and the downtown businesses has been successful during the holiday season at shuttling holiday shoppers between their favorite shops and restaurants” said Bob Simmons, Walnut Creek’s representative on County Connection’s Board of Directors. “The City of Walnut Creek has subsidized this unique bus route for many years to help ease traffic and parking conditions in our downtown area. It is wonderful that Broadway Plaza is again supporting the extended hours, which will be a welcome benefit for everyone during the busy shopping season.”
