What’s Your Threshold?

gas_pricesMany of you probably saw this photo on social media. Obviously it’s a bad joke or an honest mistake, but how high does a gallon of gas have to go before you will consider using the bus?

  • I ride the bus only because my family cannot afford a second vehicle. I dislike it so much that I often walk up to two miles (after a 12-hour day) just to avoid it.

Incidentally, if gasoline goes to $9, I’m sure that bus fare will be too high for me, too. I’ll be walking both ways every day!

  • A lot of people ride the bus because they are elderly or disabled. It has nothing to do with the price of gas. However, I do see your point!

  • It is difficult to plan a day around buses that only come every 80 minutes or if we are lucky every 40 minutes. I work 7 miles from home yet it takes over an 1 1/2 hours to get to work.

    • Understood. The frequency is a little better during the peak commute hours, but in the mid day there just isn’t enough demand to add more service 🙁
