The Central Contra Costa Transit Authority (County Connection) will hold a public hearing to gather comment on the proposed introduction of a Day Pass Accumulator, available on the Clipper Card expected to be ready for use on County Connection buses in the Fall of 2015. Clipper Card is the regional transit fare payment system. The new fare instrument will place a maximum fare payment of $3.75 per day for adults and youths, and $1.75 for seniors and disabled passengers, when using the Clipper Card for payment of cash fares on County Connection buses. In short, passengers may make unlimited local bus trips for $3.75 or $1.75 a day depending on the fare category. Comments may be submitted in writing, via email, or at the scheduled public hearing. June 18th is the 10th Annual National “Dump the Pump” day –  a day that encourages people to ride public transportation  to take them where they need to go, instead of driving a car. Using County Connection’s average trip length (one way) of 5 miles, each person who leaves their car at home and uses the bus will reduce CO2 emissions by 4.6 pounds.

In the month of May, County Connection riders reduced CO2 emissions by 30,867 pounds EACH WEEKDAY. Were you one of them?

Starting, Tuesday, June 16, Saint Mary’s students will be able to ride any County Connection bus that services Saint Mary’s college for FREE year round.

On Friday, July 3rd County Connection will operate weekend service. Independence Day is one of six holidays recognized by County Connection when no bus service is available.  Additionally, when the holiday falls on a Saturday, County Connection provides weekend service on the Friday before the holiday.

County Connection encourages passengers who need bus service on Friday, July 3rd to check the 300 series schedules. Weekend service does not run as early, as late, or as frequently as weekday bus service.

 

Getting around during the summer if you’re a teen doesn’t mean waiting for someone to drive you. Youths aged 6-18 can purchase a County Connection 20-Ride Summer Youth Pass for just $15. The pass is valid June 14-September 30th and may be shared by friends and siblings. As County Connection ridership grows, our passengers are improving the quality of air we breathe each day. In April, the people riding County Connection buses reduced CO2 emissions by 30,600 pounds every weekday.
