Congratulations To Monroe

County Connection 2017 Local Roadeo Winner

You’ve probably seen his face before!
Monroe Woodard will once again represent County Connection in the 2017 International Bus Rodeo sponsored by the American Public Transit Association (APTA). The annual competition features the best of the best from transit properties across the United States and Canada – all vying for the coveted bragging rights. This year’s event takes place in Reno, Nevada in May.

Competitors must maneuver a 40-foot bus through an obstacle course consisting of ten “problems” ranging from precise passenger stops, tight right and left turns, serpentine turns, and a judgment stop – just to name a few. Drivers are also judged on their appearance, safety skills and the smoothness of operation. And finally, they have just 7 minutes to complete the course.

Monroe has represented County Connection at the National event several times, and recently earned the top score in County Connection’s local “roadeo” event. Competition is fierce among County Connection operators and the scores get closer each year.

Monroe has been driving for County Connection for over 20 years and began competing 12 years ago.

We’re all rooting for you Monroe!

BART Testing New Schedules Could Impact Your Bus Connection

BART is testing the new train schedule that will be in place March 25th with the opening of the Warm Springs station. They’re alternating the current schedule with the projected new schedule every other day. See the web post.

There is a new schedule, but no link to their website for us to attach in this post – you’ll need to call BART to get the new schedule times. If you connect to a bus from BART, you may need to adjust which train you need to catch on alternating days to best connect with bus service. Make sure to follow BART at bart.gov for the most current updates.

Thank you for your patience!!!!

Expect Delays In Walnut Creek/Concord On Friday, March 3, 2017

County Connection cautions riders to expect service delays on Friday, March 3, 2017 along bus routes in the Walnut Creek and Concord corridors, due to the funeral service for Alameda County Sheriff Deputy Michael Foley.  The service will take place at the Concord Pavilion beginning at 11:00 AM.

Traffic will once again be impacted at the end of the service as those attending depart. It is not known at this time if traffic control measures will be in place.

If traffic is impacted to the degree that buses are not moving, or moving very slowly, the real time arrival predictions offered through the web based Bus Tracker, and the mobile  TransitApp will simply report “delayed”.

Any updates will be posted as they develop on the website, www.cccta.wpengine.com, Facebook and Twitter.

We thank everyone for your patience during this event.

Schedules Change On Several Routes Effective 2/26/17

Changes will be made to the schedules of three bus routes with the spring service period that begins Sunday, February 26. Increasing traffic and extended road construction projects make it difficult to maintain schedules on major corridors and compromise connections with other service providers.

Changes include:

  • Route 35 – the 3:03 PM trip leaving Dublin/Pleasanton will shift to leave at 3:14 PM
  • Route 92X – the schedule is rewritten. View the time table here 92X-timetable
  • Route 93X – the schedule is rewritten. View the time table here 93x-timetable
